Avi Bhuyan is a senior at Rutgers University majoring in Biomedical Engineering. His academic and research interests bridge biomedical devices, synthetic biology, medical imaging, and AI-powered diagnostic systems. As a JJ Slade Scholar, he is developing a visual perceptual correction pipeline to enhance diagnostic awareness and accuracy in medical imaging. His past work includes contributions to biosensor design, robotics, and computational modeling for medical applications. Beyond research, Avi serves as President of Engineers Without Borders – Rutgers, leading international teams on sustainable engineering projects, including the implementation of water-harvesting systems in Tanzania and the expansion of outreach initiatives that empower underserved communities through technology and design.
